Solutions

A Solution is a homogenous mixture composed  of  two or more substance. Like matter the solutions also have type of solution that is : solid, liquid, and gas. An ex of solid is : hydrogen, an ex of liquid is: Oxygen in water, and an ex of gas is: oxygen and other gases dissolved in nitrogen. Making a saline  water solution by dissoving table salt ( Nacl) in water is a typeof solution and it can be use like a demostration.

Vocabulary#6

Element: a pure substance. 100%

Compound: a chemical combination of two or more elements.

Atom: the smallest of an element.

Proton: a particle with a positive charge in the nucleus of an atom.

Electron: a particle with a negative charge moving around the nucleus of an atom.

Neutron: an uncharged particle in the nucleus of an atom.

Nucleus: the dense center part of an atom.

Molecule: a group of more than one atom joined toguether that acts like a single particle.

Vocabulary#5

Mass:the amount of matter in an object.

Weight: A mesure of the force of gravity between the earth and an object.

Volume:the amount of space an object takes up.

Density: A mesure of how pach is an object.

Buoyancy: the upward push on an object by the liquid ( or gas) the object is paced in.

Conduct: allow heat or electricity to flow through readily.

Insulate:  not allow heat or electricity to pass through readily.

What is plasma?

Plasma is a substance similar to gas. The plasma is considered a state of matter, so there are four state of mater: solid ,liquid, gas and plasma. Like gas, plasma doesn't have definite shape or volume unless in a enclosed cointainer. Some common plasmas are stars and neon signs.

Invisible Light

There are many types of invisible of light. To the most shorter to most longest. Did you know that the more shortest more dangerous is the ray?

Radio Waves

Radio Waves are the longest waves of the electromagnetic sprectrum. Broadcast stations use them to carry signals in a kind of code_ AM and FM. In AM the height of the waves is changed to carry the signal. In FM the frequency changes.

Microwaves

Microwaves are shortwave radio waves. Water in foods absorbs radio waves. As the water molecules move faster, the foods gets hotter. Microve ovens can heat many foods faster, using less energy than a regular oven.

Infrared Light

Infraed means " just beyond red". Infrared waves are next to visible red waves in the sprectrum. When you stand in sunlight, it is the Sun's infrared waves that wrm you.Special photographic film abd electronic sensors can be used to detect infrared light.

Ultraviolet Light

UV causes chemical changes. It can produce vitamin D in your body. You need vitamin D for healthy bones and teeth.HOwever, UV light can cause harm.UV light from  Sun causes sunburn.Scientists found a form that UV light can also cause some forms of cancer on the skin.

X rays and Gamma rays

The shortest wavelenghts of the sprectrum__x rays and gamma rays__have great penetrating power.X rays can pass right through most objects. This means that X rays can produce a picture when they pass through an arm or leg, or your jaw.A special " gamma camera" detects the rays and produces image of acticity in the person's brain.

Vocabulary#4

Electromagnetism: the production of magnetism by electricity and the production of electricity by magnets.

Electromagnetism sprectrum: all the wavelenghts of visible and invisible light in order from short ( gamma rays) to long( radio).

laser: a device that produces a thin strem of ligth of just a few close wavelengths.

Vocabulary#3

Prism: a cut piece of clear glass ( or plastic) with two oppsite sides in the shape of a triangle  or other geometric shape.

Sprectrum: a band of colors procuded when ligth goes through a prism.

primary color: red, green, or blue; mixing these colors can produce all the colors of the sprectrum.

primary pigment: magenta, cyan, yellow; material with any of these colors absorbs one primary color of light and reflects the other two.

Vocabulary#2

Bioluminescence: light produced by living organisms.

Light ray: a straight ligth beam of ligth as it travels outward from its source.

Law of reflection: the angle of an incoming light ray equals tha angle of the reflected ray.

Concave mirror: a mirror that curves in on the shiny side.

Convex mirror: a mirror that curves out on the shiny side.

How eye works

The individual components of the eye work in a manner similar to a camera. Each part plays

a vital role in providing clear vision. So think of the eye as a camera with the cornea, behaving

much like a lens cover. As the eye's main focusing element, the cornea takes widely diverging

rays of light and bends them through the pupil, the dark, round opening in the center of the

colored iris. The iris and pupil act like the aperture of a camera.

Next in line is the lens which acts like the lens in a camera, helping to focus light to the back

of the eye. Note that the lens is the part which becomes cloudy and is removed during cataract

surgery to be replaced by an artificial implant nowadays.

Vocabulary#1

Opaque: A material that do not let ligth pass.
The dirty water is an example of opaque.

Transparent: A material that let ligth pass.
The glass is transparent.
